My wife and I decided at around noon on Wednesday to drive 3 hours to Bo Seong for the Green Tea Festival. We just threw a few things in a small backpack, grabbed some CDs and drove off.
We barely even had a plan, but we had a fantastic 24 hours away from Busan.
Boseong is located in the southwest corner of the penninsula and is famous for growing the best green tea. It's like the equivalent of Napa Valley for wine.
Wednesday was absolutely beautiful weather, but rain was forecast for Thursday. We went anyway, figuring that the rain would just make all the different shades of green even more beautiful. We were right.
We decided to bypass the green fields (orchards?) and stay in a little village on the sea.
I should mention that EVERY restaurant in this area cooks with green tea so we ate marinated green tea pork for dinner. It was very good.
After dinner, we took a romantic walk along the shore and ended up sitting down at the end of a long jetty. We talked and counted all the big fish jumping out of the water.
The next morning, it was raining. We had a pretty bad breakfast, and headed off to a tea farm? orchard?
As expected, the rain made the greens so much more exciting.
We bumped into a couple friends from Busan (nice surprise!) took some pictures then the rain really started coming down.
We took a break with some freshly harvested tea and did some shopping.
I drove quite a bit of the way back to Busan in the pouring rain. The return trip took 5 hours.
